YOGA & MEDITATION CELL
Govindrao Wanjari College of Engineering & Technology, Nagpur has been running a Yoga and Meditation Cell in the college since 2016. The Yoga and Meditation Cell was started for both students and staff with a lot of objectives such as:
- To learn how meditation is effective in reducing stress and increasing organization skills.
- To learn simple meditation and chair yoga postures that can be done at your desk.
- To become aware of basic yoga philosophies that can help the participant to maintain a positive attitude towards their job and their colleagues.
Yoga and Meditation is essential to keep in good health and make one self-stress free. Yoga helps in many aspects like improvement in understanding concepts, boosting memory, longer attention span, improves posture, increases self-confidence and self-esteem. The Sanskrit word YOGA actually means "union with the divine". Practice of YOGA and Meditation program improves the overall performance, communication, enhance creativity and learn ability that helps in developing student’s leadership and team building skills. Inculcate Ethics & Moral values in students. Improve relationship between teachers & students.

Awareness and training programs are conducted for staff and students periodically by a Trainer. ‘International Yoga Day’ is celebrated every year on 21st June to promote the spirit of well-being.The Yoga and Meditation Cell also celebrates the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, being observed as “Yuva Divas” every year.
Mrs. Madhavi Deshmukh, Asst. Prof. in the Dept. of ETC, and a certified yoga practitioner Ms. Shruti Shirbhate, lecturer in polytechnic conducts sessions for both students and faculty. The sessions are conducted in the yoga hall and the following timings are maintained:
Weekdays: Evening Session: 4.45 pm – 5.30 pm.
On Saturdays the sessions are conducted in the afternoon.
